Following the fireworks at the harbour, the band gathers at Ross Bridge at 11pm (assuming it’s open!), and processes towards the Barbican and then through the streets of Penzance. There will be serpent dancing and lots of excitement, in the anticipation of the following day’s events. The main day has arrived, and The Golowan Band start off by its ‘Dawn Raids’ across the town, followed by leading a series of processions, with school children and their teachers carrying fabulous floats and other amazing works of art from St John’s Hall down through Market Jew Street. We finish off the day at 5pm with the Men and Maids procession, where you can join in with the serpent dance (St John’s Hall to Chapel St).
